How it works

Print-on-demand platforms do not take a cut of your sale. Printful's and Printify's official pricing pages list the same cost structure — a product price, a shipping price, optional add-ons, and an optional plan subscription:

Profit = (retail price + shipping charged) − channel fees − product cost after discount − shipping you pay − add-ons
Product cost after discount = catalog product cost × (1 − plan discount %)

Printful: the base price includes the blank product, one print or embroidery placement and fulfillment. Shipping, taxes, extra placements and add-ons are extra. The free plan has no monthly fee; Growth is $24.99/mo (free for a year once you reach $12K in sales over 12 months) with up to 33% off product prices — the discount varies by product, so enter the discount your catalog actually shows.

Printify: catalog prices are production prices that vary by print provider, product, size and color — the same shirt costs different amounts at different providers. Premium is $39/mo or $299/yr (the monthly price rose from $29 on Feb 17, 2026) with up to 20% off most products' production prices; the discount never applies to shipping. From Oct 15, 2026 to Jan 17, 2027 a flat $0.40 surcharge applies to US-bound orders.

Why there is no product dropdown: neither platform publishes a complete public price list, so no honest calculator can pick your product for you. The presets above are the official example prices from Printful's and Printify's own pages, labelled as examples — including one honest conflict: Printful's own pages show two different example shipping prices for one T-shirt shipped to the US ($3.99 on its shipping page FAQ, $4.75 in its help center), so both are listed. Printify's official guidance is to keep at least a 40% margin; the channel selector shows what is really left after marketplace fees take their share.

Verified add-on prices (enter them in the add-ons box as they apply): Printful — inside label $0.99 per item, outside label $2.49 per item, Premium Images $1 per image per placement; embroidery digitization is $6.50 per new design, but that is a one-time setup cost, not a per-order cost. Printify — packaging inserts and gift messages $0.25 each on the free plan, $0.15 each on Premium. Extra print placements and oversize (2XL+) upcharges have no single official price on either platform — they are shown per product in the catalog.

Frequently asked questions

How much do Printful and Printify charge per sale?

Neither platform charges a percentage commission on your sales. You pay the product price (the blank product plus printing or embroidery), the shipping cost, and any add-ons you choose, plus an optional plan subscription: Printful Growth is $24.99/mo and Printify Premium is $39/mo or $299/yr. Your sales channel (Etsy, Shopify, eBay) charges its own fees on top. Figures verified Oct 2026 against the official Printful and Printify pricing pages.

Why do I have to enter the product price myself?

Neither Printful nor Printify publishes a complete public price list. Product prices live in their catalogs and vary by product, size, color and fulfillment region — on Printify they also vary by the print provider you choose. So this calculator takes your catalog price as an input and offers official example prices (clearly labelled) as presets. Any site showing you a full Printful or Printify price table is not quoting a published official table.

What discount do Printful Growth and Printify Premium give?

Printful Growth gives up to 33% off product prices; the exact discount varies by product. Printify Premium gives up to 20% off most products' production prices, and the discount never applies to shipping. Enter the actual discount your catalog shows for your product — this calculator caps the field at each plan's official maximum.

What profit margin should a print-on-demand product have?

Printify's official seller guidance recommends keeping at least a 40% profit margin on your retail price, so there is room for channel fees, refunds and ad spend. Use the channel selector in this calculator to see the margin that is actually left after marketplace fees.

How we calculate & limitations

Worked example: A Bella + Canvas 3001 sold on Etsy through Printful's free plan: retail price $25.00, product cost $11.50 (Printful's official blog example for the 3001 with DTG printing) and shipping $4.75 (Printful's help-center example for one T-shirt to the US). Etsy fees are $2.83, total costs $19.08, leaving $5.93 profit — a 23.7% margin.

Assumptions & limitations: Product and shipping prices are your inputs — both platforms price per product, size, color and fulfillment region (Printify also per print provider), and no complete official price list is public, so nothing here quotes one. Plan discounts are "up to" figures on both platforms; the discount is applied to the product cost only, never to shipping. Plan subscription fees ($24.99/mo Printful Growth; $39/mo or $299/yr Printify Premium) are fixed monthly costs and are not allocated per order, matching how this site treats Shopify plans. Sales tax charged by the POD provider and customs duties are not modelled. Channel fees are simplified: Etsy excludes Offsite Ads (model them on the Etsy calculator), eBay uses the most-categories rate, and Shopify uses Shopify Payments card rates. One-time embroidery digitization ($6.50 per new design on Printful) is a setup cost and is not deducted per order. Bulk-order discounts on both platforms apply to large single orders, not per-order POD sales, and are excluded.

Fee data: Structure and plan prices verified Oct 2026 against official pages — Printful: printful.com/pricing, printful.com/plans, printful.com/shipping; Printify: printify.com/pricing and its official help center. Channel fee rates come from the same verified fee file as the dedicated calculators on this site.
