Landed Cost Calculator

The factory price is not your cost. Add the freight, the duty and the clearance bill, spread across the batch, and get the one number you should actually price from — your true landed cost per unit.

True landed cost per unit

$0.00

Product cost per unit$0.00
Freight per unit$0.00
Duty per unit$0.00
Other batch fees per unit$0.00
Domestic delivery per unit$0.00
Total cost of the whole shipment$0.00
Minimum selling price for your target margin$0.00
Profit per unit at that price (before platform fees)$0.00

The suggested price covers your costs and target margin only. Marketplace and payment fees come on top — run the price through the platform calculators before listing.

How it works

Batch-level costs are spread evenly across every unit in the shipment, then added to the per-unit costs:

Landed cost per unit = product cost + (freight ÷ units) + duty per unit + (other batch fees ÷ units) + domestic delivery per unit
Duty per unit = product cost × duty rate
Minimum selling price = landed cost ÷ (1 − target margin)

The bigger the batch, the thinner the freight and clearance layers spread — which is why the same product can be unprofitable in a 100-unit trial order and healthy in a 1,000-unit reorder. Try changing only the quantity and watch the landed cost move.

Frequently asked questions

What is landed cost?

Landed cost is the true total cost of one unit by the time it is ready to sell: the product price plus its share of international freight, import duty and clearance or miscellaneous batch fees, plus any per-unit domestic delivery cost. Pricing from the product price alone understates your cost by every one of those layers.

Is duty calculated on the product value or on product plus freight?

This calculator charges duty on the product (FOB) value, which is how many sellers estimate it. Some customs regimes assess duty on the CIF value (product + insurance + freight) instead; if yours does, add the extra duty to the batch fees field or raise the duty rate slightly so the total matches your customs bill.

How do I use landed cost with marketplace fees?

Use the landed cost per unit as the product cost in the platform calculators — but then do not count the same freight again as a shipping cost there. The platform comparison page runs that landed cost through Etsy, eBay, Amazon FBA and TikTok Shop fees in one view.

What is not included in landed cost here?

VAT or GST (usually recoverable for registered businesses), warehousing and storage after arrival, returns, and platform selling fees. Insurance can be added to the batch fees field if you pay it per shipment.

How we calculate & limitations

Worked example: 500 units at $3.20, freight $850.00, duty 7.5%, other batch fees $120.00, domestic delivery $0.85/unit → per unit: product $3.20 + freight $1.70 + duty $0.24 + other fees $0.24 + domestic $0.85 = landed cost $6.23; whole shipment $3,115.00. At a 35% target margin the minimum selling price before platform fees is $9.58.

Assumptions & limitations: Duty is charged on the product (FOB) value — if your customs authority assesses on CIF value, adjust as described in the FAQ. Batch costs are spread evenly across all units; damaged or unsellable units raise the effective cost of the rest. VAT/GST, storage after arrival and platform fees are excluded.

Fee data: This calculator uses no platform fee data — it is pure arithmetic on the figures you enter.
