How it works

Etsy stacks three fees on every order, plus a fourth when an Offsite Ad drove the sale:

Total charged = item price + shipping charged to buyer
Transaction fee = 6.5% × total charged
Payment processing (US) = 3% × total charged + $0.25
Listing fee = $0.20 per item sold
Profit = total charged − all fees − item cost − your shipping & packaging cost

The 6.5% transaction fee and US payment processing are charged on the shipping you charge the buyer too — which is why “free shipping” priced into the item and shipping charged separately come out differently once your real shipping cost is entered.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge in 2026?

Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping charged, and payment processing (3% + $0.25 in the US). Sales attributed to Offsite Ads add 12% or 15%. Fee figures on this page were last updated in Oct 2026 — verify against Etsy's official Fees & Payments policy.

Does Etsy charge its 6.5% fee on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee applies to the total the buyer pays for the item plus the shipping price you charge. Payment processing is also calculated on that total.

When does the Offsite Ads fee apply?

Only when a buyer clicked an Offsite Ad (for example a Google Shopping ad run by Etsy) and bought from your shop within 30 days of the click. Shops with $10,000 or more in revenue in the trailing 365 days are charged 12% and cannot opt out; shops under $10,000 are charged 15% and can opt out. The fee is capped at $100 per order.

Why is my real payout lower than this estimate?

Etsy may also deduct a regulatory operating fee in some countries, VAT on fees outside the US, and currency-conversion fees if your shop currency differs from your payment currency. Those are not modelled in this V1 calculator — see the limitations section.

How we calculate & limitations

Worked example: A $35.00 item with $4.50 shipping charged: total charged $39.50 → transaction fee $2.57, processing $1.44, listing $0.20. With $9.00 item cost and $4.70 shipping + packaging, profit is $21.60 before any Offsite Ads fee.

Assumptions & limitations: US Etsy Payments processing rate (3% + $0.25). Offsite Ads fee, when selected, is calculated on price + shipping charged and excludes Etsy's per-item fee cap. Etsy does not charge a regulatory operating fee in the US, so none is included; such fees in other countries, VAT on fees, and currency conversion are not included.
